There he will remove the cloud of gloom, the shadow of death that hangs over the earth. He will swallow up death forever! - Isaiah 25:7-8
O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night
And death's dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
(from O Come O Come Emmanuel)
Day 4: During my years as a nanny, I was fortunate to have been invited to tag along on family vacations. On one trip, we went to Germany where we spent a week in Heidelberg and a week in Rothenburg. I did this watercolor sketch of a window at Saint John's Church in Rothenburg during some quiet downtime. Because the church was very old, (built around 1200) I remember it feeling a bit dark and gloomy inside, but the light coming through the stained glass was warm and peaceful.
