Day 3: Craving snow and inspired by Wilson Bentley, I decided to make a handmade snowflake card. I wanted my snowflake to reflect the delicacy of the real kind, so I decided to try sewing with thin thread on acetate. I made a quick sketch of the design on graph paper, placed the acetate over the sketch, punched holes through the acetate at points where the needle would go through, then sewed on the thread. I then hung a long thread loop from the top of the snowflake and taped it to the inside of the card...this way the recipient has the option to remove it and use it as an ornament... multipurpose! Let's hope for a white Christmas this year!
