Day 2: Two of my favorite Christmas animations are The Snowman, which was an adaptation of an equally awesome book by Raymond Briggs, and A Charlie Brown Christmas. This illustration is a little nod to both, with skaters loosely reminiscent of the Peanuts characters on ice, and lyrics from Walking in the Air, a song by Howard Blake featured in The Snowman. I recycled some of the characters in this image from an old calendar project that had nothing to do with the text, but once I added the words, I liked how it complimented the imaginations of the skating children, where the ice is a boundless sky, and they are weightless, flying through midnight.
