Thankful Thursday

Just a happy horse on a bench in a greenhouse at the Philadelphia Horticulture Society.

Being thankful reminds me that I have an abundance of goodness at my fingertips, so in the hopes of making it a regular (hopefully weekly) practice, here’s what I’ve been thankful for of late:

Enjoying nature - it’s been a mild winter so far with a few days of Spring springing ahead of schedule, drawing me outside to sketch or write in my nature journal.  I was able to visit the Philadelphia Horticulture Center back in February.  I’ve been there before for the Cherry Blossom festival, but had never explored the greenhouses…what a peaceful gem with tangles of succulents, rows of lilies, fountains decked in nymphs and ornamental stone, and palms overhead.  I was able to sit for awhile and sketch a red-margined dracaena.  Then I took myself on a “tree tour” on the grounds and learned that the West Coast isn’t the only place where redwoods grow…there’s a deciduous East Coast relative called the Dawn Redwood, and it’s gorgeous!
